신현세전통한지 SHINHYEONSE JEONTONG HANJI
'유산을 지켜내는 복원용 한지'
신현세 한지장(국가무형유산)은 16세에 외삼촌에게서 장판지 제조법을 배운 이후 전국 유명 한지 공방들에서 일하며 전통한지 제작법을 배웠다. 2002년 경남 의령군 봉수면에 신현세전통한지를 설립한 이후 제품의 우수성을 인정받아 국가기록원, 미국 국회도서관·국가기록청, 이탈리아 국립기록유산보존복원중앙연구소 등 국내외 40여 곳에 주문생산 방식으로 보존용 한지를 공급하고 있다.
'Conservation hanji that safeguards heritage'
Apprenticing under his uncle at age of sixteen, artisan Shin Hyeon-se(National Intangible Cultural Heritage) mastered the traditional Hanji manufacturing while working at famous Hanji workshops across the country. His life's journey was made manifest in 2002 at Bongsu-myeon Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do and Shinhyeonse Traditional Hanji and has ever since been supplying custom-ordered nonpareil product to national and international clientele including the National Archives of Korea, the US Library of Congress, the US National Archives, and the Italian Central Laboratory Institute for National Archive Conservation.
